Privacy Policy

At a glance

We designed this website to collect as little data as possible: it uses no cookies, no analytics or tracking and no third-party services. All fonts, images and scripts are served from our own server. The only personal data processed is what every web server needs to deliver a page (see “Server log files”) and, if you use a character lookup, the data described under “Character lookups”.

This website is hosted on servers operated by Sebastian Bruechner located in Duesseldorf, Germany.

Server log files

When you visit this website, the web server automatically stores information that your browser transmits:

• IP address
• date and time of the request
• requested page or file
• referrer URL (the previously visited page)
• browser type and version, operating system
• HTTP status code and amount of data transferred

This data is processed to deliver the website and to ensure its security and stability (for example, to detect and defend against attacks). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in the secure and error-free operation of the website. Log files are deleted after 30 days, unless further retention is necessary to investigate a specific security incident. The data is not merged with other data sources.

Cookies and local storage

This website does not set cookies. Tools on this site can remember your own settings in your browser’s local storage – for example which entries you marked as “skip” in a character lookup. This data stays on your device, is never sent to us and can be removed at any time by clearing the site data in your browser. The legal basis is § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG, as the storage is necessary for the function you explicitly use.

Character lookups

Some tools on this site show the progress of a World of Warcraft character. To do so, you enter a region, a realm and a character name. Our server then requests the public profile of that character from the official API of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. (achievements, collections, reputations and the character’s avatar picture). Your browser only communicates with our server; your IP address is not passed on to Blizzard. You do not need a Battle.net login.

To limit the load on the Blizzard API, the result of a lookup, including the avatar picture, is stored on our server (in a database we operate ourselves) for up to 30 days. Revisiting a link or searching again always shows this stored result – it is never silently refreshed. You can request current data at any time using the refresh button next to the character name, which is limited to once every few minutes per character. To prevent abuse, we additionally store a salted hash of your IP address (not the address itself) together with the time of your lookups for up to 10 minutes. Nothing else is stored and the data is not merged with other sources. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in providing the tool you requested and in protecting it against abuse.

External links

This site links to external websites (e.g. Blizzard Entertainment or news sites). No data is transferred to these sites until you click a link. Once you follow a link, the privacy policy of the respective provider applies.

This website uses TLS encryption to protect the transmission of data between your browser and our server.
